THIRU KOLANJIAPPAR GOVERNMENT ARTS COLLEGE

Thiru Kolanjiappar Government Arts College, Vriddhachalam was started in the year 1966 as a
Pre-University College at the Boys High School
building in the
municipal town Vriddhachalam .The vast area of more than 42 acres of land housing the
permanent buildings of the College was donated
by the authorities of Sri Vriddhagireeswarar Temple.

The authorities of Sri Kolanjiappar Temple generously donated two lakhs of rupees with the help of
which undergraduate courses,B.A History and
Tamil Literature were started in the year 1969 .The college was shifted to the present campus in the
year 1971 and B.Com. course was started
in the same year . B.Sc Mathematics was started in 1972,B.Sc. Zoology in 1979 and B.Sc. Physics in 1980.

Post graduate course in Tamil Literature was started in 1981.Full time M.Phil. programme in Tamil is being
conducted from the academic year
1993-94.Part time M.Phil. and Ph.D programme in Tamil Literature are also being conducted at present
besides full time Ph.D from 2000-2001.

B.Sc.Computer Science is offered from the academic year 1997-98. B.A. English Literature, B.Sc. Chemistry,
M.Sc. Mathematics and M.Com have
been started during the academic year 2005-2006

From the academic year 2007-2008 the shift system has been introduced in this college. All the existing UG &
PG courses are being conducted in Shift I.
Only five courses, B.A. Tamil Literature, B.A. English Literature, B.Com, B.Sc. Mathematics and B.Sc. Computer
Science are being conducted in Shift II.

The National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) visited our college In March 2005 and awarded B+
Level (77.50%).

how to apply
Cost of application form is fixed at Rs. 25/- (Twenty five Rupees Only). For SC/ST candidates only one application form is to be issued free of cost on the production of the photocopy of his community certificate.
Application forms for admission are generally issued from 15th May or from the date of publication of result of Higher Secondary Examination of Tamil Nadu whichever is earlier. The last date for the receipt of completed Application Forms is with in 10 days from the date of publication of +2 Results
The Tamilnadu Government norms and Reservation policies will be followed scrupulously while admitting students. .
